Helping a Client Find a New Way to Sell an Age-Old Design

When you sell products to both retail customers and other businesses, you need an e-commerce strategy that meets a variety of needs.

FortyFour recently partnered with Jaipur Living, a leading global rug manufacturer, to launch a new e-commerce site. Jaipur delivers quality, ethically sourced rugs to interior designers and retail businesses around the world. It also has a great story to tell, as a family-owned business that has dedicated resources for years to improving the lives of artisans in India and preserving an art form.

Because Jaipur is both a B2B and B2C company, selling to retail customers and to large designers, they needed to deliver a dynamic shopping experience that enabled clients not only to purchase rugs, but also to sell them to their customers. And they needed to inform shoppers of the company’s mission while using a design that did justice to their gorgeous rugs. That’s where FortyFour came in.

“Our business goal was to create an easy-to-use, mobile-friendly website where our retail partners and interior designers would enjoy a seamless experience,” explains Brad Ratner, Jaipur Living’s Director of E-Commerce.

Finding the right tools for every client

During a detailed discovery phase, FortyFour considered what kind of website would best serve Jaipur’s client needs. We knew that the website required variability, complexity, and customizability. To build an adaptable website that would evolve with the changing needs and demands of Jaipur clients, we chose Magento—a robust e-commerce platform that allows for easy content management and updates.

We integrated with Salesforce to implement registration, service, and product return forms. We also integrated with Navision so that customer, product, and order data could flow between the two systems.

Connecting brand to mission

Jaipur’s tagline, “Creating Beautiful Lives”, doesn’t end at providing designer rugs to its clients. The company’s unique story centers around its partnership with more than 40,000 artisan rug makers in India in an effort to provide a sustainable source of income and awaken an age-old craft.

Jaipur’s unique story needed a unique digital experience. With vibrant, on-brand design and rich, digestible content, the site now tells Jaipur’s story in a compelling way. The Chaudhary family started Jaipur to connect people around the world with the craft and talents of artisan rug makers in India. We’re proud to be helping Jaipur provide an e-commerce experience that makes its mission more possible than ever.
